updating kernel, no '/usr/src/linux' directory?

This is a tutorial that I am working through, however, when I got to this part:

cd to /usr/src/linux

I got stuck. As this directory doesn't exist.
What am I doing wrong? Please ask for specific details, if this is too vague.

I think that I haven't installed the kernel-source package as the tutorial said to:

i started with a clean install of 9.2 pro. during the install i added gcc, kernel-source, and make. you can do that by searching the packages. these are very important.

However, this package is not on my installation CD. Can I just download the appropriate version of the kernel-source rpm?

I have SuSE 9.1 personal edition and so I don't have the kernel-source, gcc or make packages, so I had to download them.
