well, SuSE has it's history, and this includes Slackware

calling todays (open)SUSE distribution a Slackware derivate is imho a bit too much, there is not too much from Slackware in openSUSE or SuSE

It shares some ancient heritage with it via Jurix, but not really. Quite superficially there's a lot of ncurses involved if you use text based Yast.

If you load up a version of YaST1 on a really old version (<8.0), the interface is somewhat reminiscent of the Slackware installer. But then so is the bootloader, init system, etc.
