OpenSuse 10.0 x86_64, Java, Firefox

I installed OpenSuse 10.0 recently and all went smooth. I installed the flash, acrobat plugins and they worked with firefox x86_64 no problem. Then I installed java 1.5 x86_64 and it worked with java programs such as limewire and azureus. I also installed the java plugin and it refuses to work. If i open up firefox and go to any site with a java applet it crashes the browser. So then i checked to make sure that the java plugin was a symlink and not a file. It was. So then I uninstalled java and the java plugin and then when i go to websites with an applet they load fine but the applet doesnt work and java programs dont work either... obviously. I then went and get the amd64 java installer from java.com and installed it. Java programs work once again. I went and followed the instructions to install the java plugin from the mozilla plugin doc and that is to symlink the plugin. But... there is no plugin to symlink. How can i get this to work without using 32 bit programs?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

64-bit java does not have plugin for FF
you need 32-bit FF and 32-bit java
This works fine.

He is talking about64-bit OS/apps, on 64-bit AMD you have either 32-bit OS, or installed 64-bit OS with 32-bit FF (and plugins)
