[QUOTE=Hyder Merchant]I have Windows professional on my cvomputer. AS I start installing and put in the ist cd the blue dialogue box doesnot come on, instead white box with technical box comes on. Ihave just bought this installation disks from WHSmith ith instruction magazine, I would be oblige if some body can help me install this prpogram on my computer with to run side by side windows professional. Please help.
There are five installation disks. when I put in the first disk, and restart the computer,it is supposed to bring our a blue screen listing the installation selections. But in this case a white screen comes on with several icons, which I have no clues. Can any one help me or give me the solution to intall my Linus Suse.
Otherwise i will have to abandon my Linus Installation and do without until I find a solution. I hope some can identify the problem. Please can anyone help solving this problem. I may be very minor, but i am not very good at undersatanding this problem. Thanks
This should be in Linux-->Newbie, not kernel (I'll report for a moderator to move it).
First, be sure that you computer is setup to boot from a CD. This is a bios setting.
When you boot from the SUSE install CD, what do you see? We need to know specifically, so we know how to help you.
Also, with Windows already installed, you will need some empty space on your harddrive. I don't know if the SUSE installer will resize your windows partition.
BACK UP any important data before you do any of this.
Moved: This thread is more suitable in Linux - Distributions > Suse and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.
Thanks to jtshaw for his quick reply. The version of linux i have got is 10.1 suse. There is plenty of space on the hard drive. and according to the instruction manual/or magazine that has been supplied with it the suse 10.1 is supposed to do the partitioning by it self. when suse 10.1 cd is put into the computer and the computer restarted an immage comes on on white screen. according to the manual there should be a blue screen with selection to install the Linus suse 10.1. And according to the instruction magazine/manual, it will intal linux system on a partition of harddrive. the partition will be worked out by the installing cd. There are five cds. If this inormatrion is any help, I will await your futher comments and guidance. Thanks for the trouble you have taken. With kind regards Hyder Merchant.
this has already been said but make sure your computer is set to boot from the cdrom. if there is still a problem and it won't boot check the cd itmay be bad. Suse ifi believe stopped selling the Cd's and on is now doing DVD in magazines.

I'm a little confused as to the steps you have taken. It sounds like you have already went through the installation and you are trying to boot into SuSE for the first time? Or are you having trouble getting the CD to boot up for the installation?
I am havingtrouble installing from the cd. until 10.1 suse is intalled I cannot boot from cd or other wise. I cannot boot or intall from the CD. You may be right CD may not be good because I tried to do it on my other computer and the proboem is the same. Thanks for response. With regardsd HyderMerchant.
