My Google-fu is failing me. Does anyone know which keys to use to scroll up and down (page-up, page-down) in the non-gui/non-desktop console after booting? I've tried various combinations of Control, Shift, Alt with Page Up and Page Down, but all it does is print 'z's to the screen. The only thing I haven't tried is to activate Scroll-lock, like FreeBSD does, 'cause my keyboard doesn't have a scroll-lock key (and I know how to get around that in FreeBSD).

Also, if anyone happens to know of how to edit the keymap (not language/location, but the actual mapped keys), I'd appreciate it. That's how I get around not having the Scroll-lock key in FreeBSD.

This might not be relevant, but.

On Linux I've already just piped commands through less to make it easy to scroll.

Try to set environment variable TERM to something.
If vt100 does not work, try sun or sun-cmd

I'm afraid the answer is that there is no way to scroll up/down the virtual console.

It seems the terminal emulator implemented in the kernel only implements a scroll-up function and doesn't buffer lines.

Thanks. Seems weird, but it's different than the other OSs I use, so guess that's just something to mark down in the "Con" column.
