If you did
not create a regular account for your user, type
adduser at the
root@darkstar:~# prompt (that's the
root prompt), and answer the questions to create the new user account. After your account is created, type
exit at the root prompt and log back in using your newly created account.
Now, if you already had a user account skip the paragraph above and just login using your account credentials. Once you do this, the prompt is different, should be something like
omikron@darkstar:~$ or whatever username you chose. At this prompt type
xwmconfig. That will give you a dialog where you can select which GUI to use. Select the KDE option and press ENTER. Next, type
startx, and you'll be running KDE.
Normally, Slackware boots into the command line interface (runlevel 3), not the graphical or GUI interface (runlevel 4). If you wish to always start the system with the GUI interface, you'll have to edit a file and do a small change, otherwise, if you don't mind typing your username/password and then
startx, no change is necessary. But leave that for later, first try the suggestions above and then we'll take one step at a time.
If language is a problem, you might try installing
Slackware in Spanish, as Didier mentioned in your other
thread.
