Just installed Slack 10, can't get X working.

X windows doesn't run since I installed Slackware 10. I'm running a Celeron 2.6ghz, 768 MB of ram, NVIDIA GeForce.

I type:

root@darkstar# X

After watching my 'X' shaped mouse cursor for a few seconds, I hit ctrl+alt+F2, then ctrl+alt+F1, I had a message on my screen. Here's m log file Xorg.0

_XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for inet6
_XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/darkstar:0

Should that command be startx ? When I give one of my SL10 box the 'X' command I just get a gray screen with an X in it.

run xorgconfig to configure your hardware, then run 'startx' to start X.

you can add an alias to your ~/.bashrc so that you can use X
instead of startx..............
