Having issues installing fully encrypted Slackware - following README_CRYPT

Hello,

I'm attempting to install a clean slackware -current install from AlienBob's -current ISO. This is on a BIOS system with a single drive, /dev/sda

I'm following readme_crypt for setup, however when I try to boot the system, I get a kernel panic reporting that it is unable to mount the root filesystem. I am also not being prompted for my encryption key to unlock the system.

http://bear.alienbase.nl/mirrors/sla...ADME_CRYPT.TXT

I'm going to attempt a reinstall now with a new partition table.

If you let me know what files you would like to see, I'll post a copy of all my config before I reboot.

I rebooted using the install media and am trying to mount the encrypted volume but I get an error:

mount /dev/mapper/slackluks /mnt/hd (first I ran cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda2 slackluks and put in password)
mount: unknown filesystem type 'LVM2_member'

Did you run mkinitrd with appropriate options ? IIRC at least
Code:
 -C

Looks like you created a LVM configuration inside the encrypted container.
You need to first re-assemble the LVM and then you can mount the filesystem inside the logical volume.

When generating the initrd using the "mkinitrd" command, did you perhaps forget to include the "-L" parameter to support your LVM setup?

Thanks - I'll check tonight!

Hello Bob,

I followed this guide: http://www.jveweb.net/en/archives/20...ypted-lvm.html

The only real addition here is the vgscan, vgchange, and optional vgdisplay commands.

I don't know if these are necessary, or if I simply failed to create the correct initrd the first times around, but at this point it's working.

Thank you for your help!
