I use the command line (including the very useful pmount) or Dolphin.

I have a device action in kde so that on plugging in a usb drive the command 'worker /home/alan %f' is run which opens worker with one side of the screen in home and the other in the device.

But I do use Dolphin sometimes, especially when Windows Users are peeping :-).

xfm. nice and simple. with almost no requirements.

i even used dolphin in openbox.

I use XFCE, so I use Thunar.
XFCE does everything I want; and it is simple and easy to use.
I still have not figured out the "cashew" in KDE 4.
Come to think of it, I never really figured out KDE 3.5.
I like a simple, fast, and easy to use desktop.

Well well, Dolphin - very nice and powerful
I build everything around it, mount/unmount, places, easy to switch between single and split mode, thumbnails and disc size if you want, easy to configure. and you can have terminal at the bottom

I use places (bookmarks) on the left panel to access everything I need from 4 internals, external and network discs - invoice, printing labels, music, pictures, movies etc - reach what I want in one or two clicks

took a week or two before I really liked and understood it when KDE came in in SW 13

Konq and Dolphin, don't have any file operation issues with them. Would prefer sftp kio-slave over fish though ... it appears that it's not available in the official kde dist or AlienBob's seeing as there was concern over the libssh quality. Not sure if this is still the case.

Took me a while longer. I usually operate it in two-pane mode (ala MC, which I also make a lot of use of). In this mode I still have trouble seeing which pane is the active one as the background shading difference is a bit subtle and I have not found a config option to fix this. It is very good on registering plugged in devices on the devices pane on the Left Hand Side and keeping everything nicely integrated that way.

Krusader also good, although I find I use it less and less as I have got used to Dolphin.

Dolphin in kde. i have it configured so i have my most often used folders listed on the left, and the "open with..." drop down menu is useful, as well as the "actions" menu.

in a terminal or from CLI i find mc extremely useful

I use vifm, which is basically just an ncurses gui with command line tools. mc when vifm doesn't suffice for what I need to do.

I use Dolphin and Midnight Commander, definitely my favorite ones, probably for their dual paned views. Thunar isn't bad either, Krusader looks interesting but I haven't tried it yet. If I'm dealing with just a file or two though I usually use command line tools.

Midnight Commander, first, then Konqueror, but for sorting photos, Gwenview.

Why did you name it python-ranger? This is a naming convertion originally started by Debian in order to easily identify $LANG *modules*, not applications written in $LANG.
It makes no sense renaming applications, eg. python-wicd, c-snownews or c++-kdebase, mono-tomboy

Well it was due to the python templates on sbo really, although it isn't really enforced. I guess it makes more sense for modules.
