Anyway, this topic has been way out of topic from the original idea.
i would suggest to close this thread as it doesn't bring any constructive suggestion for Slackware and keep posting in other thread (Request For Current) if you have any suggestions for Slackware development.

I didn't say that I was ever forced to use some particular Linux. In fact, I have never been. It's just my observation (not only mine), that experimenting with exotic makes additional difficulties which have no value at work.
Maybe I should've said that my brother never felt like he'd need to run RHEL to collaborate with the rest of his team. But as some others have said, they've been able to collaborate on projects using Slackware. It won't work out of the box in all situations, but can in many of those with minor changes (like adding a piece of software).
