Also, before someone complains, I've found an error in gen_man_pages.sh (I'm referring to a directory that doesn't exist). The fixed version will be uploaded shortly too. |
slint-20130905: bugfixes and more
As usual, the new tarball is available in http://slint.fr/pub.
All known bugs are fixed (more to come :-) At last, translators can actually test their translations in context running script slint-20130905/scripts/gen_man_pages.sh. Also, slintify.sh now generates an internationalized Slackware tree (and optionally a DVD ISO image) including internationalized source files. In other words, if you run the SlackBuilds of modified packages in an internationalized Slackware, you will get modified packages, not genuine ones. Seems to work (in a VM), more tests to come, other testers welcome. Finally, man pages included in package 'pkgtools' are already translated in Spanish. Caveat: I pulled them from Transifex before Diantre had a chance to review them in context (but I did a quick check and didn't find anything wrong that I can see; at least the formatting is good), so if you find errors, blame me not him ;) |

I just finished and uploaded the slackpkg translation to Transifex, I'll review them thoroughly this weekend, so I suppose the next slint iteration will have both slackpkg and pkgtools Spanish translations. Any comment or suggestion about the translations is very welcome, of course. |

a/lilo-24.0-i486-2.txz: Rebuilt. |
Thanks for the heads up, Yaroslav.
Maybe we need to translate some strings in /usr/share/os-prober/common.sh and in /usr/bin{os-prober,linux-boot-prober}. I'll look at that tomorrow. EDIT. Well, these scripts are provided by upstream, so we can't internationalize them. Still, we could cook a custom fake script that would just gather strings to be translated, so they be included in slackware.po... Not sure about that as this would be hard to maintain and not very clean. Ideas? |
slint-20130910 is available in http://slint.fr/pub
This release is in sync with Slackware-current as of Mon Sep 9 03:34:59 UTC 2013.
USB and ISO installers for Slackware-current (32bit and 64bit) have been rebuilt following kernel upgrade. Besides Spanish and French, translations of man pages are included in 'pgktools' (Russian, Ukrainian) and 'slackpkg' (Russian). In (installed) internationalized Slackware-current produced by script slintify.sh, it has been checked that running ./<package>.SlackBuild outputs a package including internationalized scripts/man pages, where <series>/<package> is one of:
Of course Slackware-current's updates can still reserve us big surprises, so we will have to wait until it be labeled 'beta' or 'release candidate' to use same labels for internationalized Slackware-current... Also, packages pkgtools and slackpkg modified by slintify.sh can be used in an otherwise genuine Slackware-14.0 ot Slackware-current, see this thread. They are available here, so that one can easily use/review included localized man pages. @ Translators: packages/build material for po4a and dependencies have been updated. In Slackware-current, locale-gettext is now shipped inside 'perl' package, so you don't need to re-install it. |
slint-20130916 is available in http://slint.fr/pub
This is mainly to stay in sync with Slackware-current (as of Fri Sep 13 20:00:48 UTC 2013). USB and ISO installers for Slackware-current 32bit and 64bit have been rebuilt accordingly.
Some translations have been added/updated, see the Changelog. Now pkgtools' man pages are translated in Ukrainian. Also, it seems that packages for po4a and dependencies be actually 'noarch', but I didn't change their SlackBuilds and names (yet). |
slint-20130918, aka slint-14.1 beta is available in http/slint.fr/pub
I started a new thread to give more exposure to that announce.

slint-20130924 available
Translation in Russian of slint.sh is added, of pkgtools' man pages is updated. 'pkgtools' including the man pages (usable on Slackware-14.0 as well) has been updated, see here.
In case you wonder: slint is not in sync with Slackware-current as of Mon Sep 23 00:32:58 UTC 2013 yet (switch from elilo to GRUB for UEFI ISO boot for 64bit). We will wait for things to stabilize a bit before we internationalize new files in /EFI/BOOT as tests are underway, |
UEFI support & USB device as source of installation.
Our translators are localizing messages of new script 'INSUSB' in Slackware-current and corresponding new entry in one of setup's dialogs.
Also, in next slint release slint.sh and slintify.sh will add localized entries in /BOOT/EFI/grub.cfg so that language can be chosen at boot time in case of EFI booting of the installer (as was done with elilo.conf - we'll keep that too, just in case elilo makes a come back :-) PS I don't forecast booting the installer with syslinux in EFI mode in Slackware-14.1, as syslinux.6 is probably not stable enough yet to be picked by Pat ;) |
tags on transifex
sycamorex have devised a plan, for the Polish translators, on how to mark strings which have been checked as gramatically correct (Gx), context relevant (Kx because in Polish it's kontekst) and format ready, which means the strings are not too long and fit inside the windows (Fx). He uses GS, KS, FS (i.e. Grammar Sycamorex) and I use GE, KE, FE (Elesmod).
If a string has all 6 tags, we mark it as approved. I was trying to make a search of strings which are not marked as GE. I've searched the web, but I don't think that's possible (I will search a bit more though). However, while doing that, I've encountered this: Quote:

I take the occasion to inform that Fela just joined the Portuguese (Brazil) team, welcome on board Antonio. Also, NonNonBa is reviewing the French translation, thanks SeB. |
Dik Leenheer aka dlee99 joined the Dutch team: welcome on board.
Expect a new release within 24 hours with new translations of man pages, in -current ability of EFI booting off an USB stick and completed translations to stay in sync with genuine Slackware-current (unless its Changelog include new things needing attention from us within a day, of course :-) EDIT I'll need one more day to check everything. Better late than sorry. |
EFI booting internationalized and more.
slint-20131001, is available here.
It is in sync with Slackware-current dated Sun Sep 29 02:39:29 UTC 2013. Translations have been completed to include messages for installation of packages from an USB stick. All installers have been rebuilt. Now, slint can boot on an EFI machine, as does genuine Slackware-current, with internationalized greetings screens for grub (installer on DVD) and elilo (installer on USB stick). Here are some screenshots: elilo's greeting screen elilo's list of booting choices (with description of one of them) grub's greeting screen Also, for those of you who didn't' see them yet, here are some lilo's and installer's screenshots: lilo's greeting screen lilo's second screen (after [F3]) main setup menu Manual pages included in packages slackpkg and pkgtools are now translated in Brazilian Portuguese and Indonesian, thanks Fela and WillySR. Script slintify.sh now internationalizes file /usb-and-pxe-installers/usbboot.img. Thus following instructions in README_USB.TXT and/or running script usbimg2disk.sh you can build an internationalized USB installer, possibly including internationalized packages. Next on the TODO list is adding an "how-to for translators" page on http://slint.fr and adopting a better naming scheme for internationalized packages. |
