I know that was a bit of a joke, but I've just added this to my user's .bashrc

Code:
note () {

     }
Seems to work. Could be fun. Probably a security risk (no sanitisation of input).

Back to thread: I tend to use a reporter's notebook and a biro for actual notes and doodles. Visual stuff.

I'm surprised that I didn't mention this one earlier: http://leoeditor.com/

It has some interesting characteristics. It might be too heavy for what you want to do.

Even though the thread is from a few years back, your search for the perfect note-taking app remains relevant. While Gnote is a viable option for Slackware 14.1, have you ever considered exploring notesonline.com? This online tool is specifically designed for note-taking and sharing, offering a different approach compared to traditional local apps. Although the thread dates back a few years, technology has continued to evolve, and online tools like I've mentioned provide the advantage of accessibility from anywhere, anytime. Integrating it with your Slackware system could offer you the flexibility to access and manage your notes seamlessly.

I use vim with the vim-pad plugin for note taking which works pretty neat.
