Package for 'installpkg,removepkg,makepkg,"

I inadvertly removed the package that contains 'removepkg,installpkg,makepkg' commands.
I would like to reinstall it but :
1) I don't know which package(s).
2) I cannot use 'installpkg' anymore because it is removed.

Please help me and thanks in advance.

This is just a thought, but it should work (I'm not gonna remove pkgtools to try it on my system, tho)

The package that you want is pkgtools-9.0.0-i386-1.tgz (assuming you're running slack 9). Mount your install disk and cp pkgtools-9.0.0-i386-1.tgz to a temporary directory, then cd to that temporary directory. Extract it with 'tar xzvf pkgtools-9.0.0-i386-1.tgz', then try this command:

./sbin/installpkg pkgtools-9.0.0-i386-1.tgz

You will have to do this last step as root. Don't forget the leading period, since you're trying to execute the installpkg file that you've just extracted. Then try pkgtool to see if it worked. Be sure to let us know if it does.

I got a bunch of errors upon executing installpkg. Very frustrating. I think it would be easier to reinstall.

No need to do so. you can do what installpkg does by yourself.

copy the archive to /

then extract with tar xzvf.

All the necessary files will be copied to their positions, and there will be one extra folder ( install/ I think ) there. Execute the script inside that directory. (do it from the root directory, like './install/doinst.sh' ) and you are set.
