Angry Networking and Xorg fails after fresh 14.2 install and upgrade

After installing the full Slackware64 distribution on my HP Pavilion g6 and immediately running slackpkg upgrade-all, i reboot and try to test out my installation.

So i do startx but i get:

Code:
Fatal server error:
(EE) no screens found(EE)
(EE)
Checking out nmtui as well, the "Activate a connection" screen lists no networks, when there's definitely quite a few Wi-Fi networks around me.

I can't tell which kernel version i was running before, but there was a kernel update and now i'm running 4.4.14. Is this the culprit?

Whether or not it is, how do i fix these issues? I can provide any full logs needed.

UPDATE:

I just did some messing around, and i copied vmlinuz-huge-4.4.276.x64 from /boot into /boot/efi/EFI/Slackware/ and put that in ELiLo, and that worked just fine. If /boot is where the new kernel is, then was i booting the old kernel in the previous post?

patches/packages/linux-4.4.276/*: Upgraded.
These updates fix various bugs and security issues, including the recently
announced local privilege escalation vulnerability in the filesystem layer
(CVE-2021-33909).
Be sure to upgrade your initrd after upgrading the kernel packages.
If you use lilo to boot your machine, be sure lilo.conf points to the correct
kernel and initrd and run lilo as root to update the bootloader.
If you use elilo to boot your machine, you should run eliloconfig to copy the
kernel and initrd to the EFI System Partition.

Oh, i'm sorry about that, i was aware of the changelogs, but i thought they only existed with Slackware version number changes. Where can i view the changelog next time? Is it obtainable through the package manager or do i find it on the web?

Also, the problem got worse now, my BIOS doesn't recognise any boot device. Last time i booted up this system i barely did anything on it, so how did this happen?

I reinstalled ELILO, using Slackware's setup, and now it's fine. But still, how did this happen?
