[SOLVED] GCC 7.1.0 & Kernel 4.9.34

I may just reinstall my current64 install (no multi-lib), but I was in the process of building the 4.9.34 kernel and I'm getting the following error when I try to make oldconfig:

Code:
root@bert:/usr/src# zcat /proc/config.gz > /usr/src/linux/.config
root@bert:/usr/src# cd /usr/src/linux
root@bert:/usr/src/linux# make oldconfig
  HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
In file included from /usr/include/bits/posix1_lim.h:16:0,
                 from /usr/include/limits.h:183,
                 from /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/7.1.0/include-fixed/limits.h:194,
                 from /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/7.1.0/include-fiexed/syslimits.h:7,
                 from /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/7.1.0/include-fixed/limits.h:34,
                 from scripts/basic/fixdep.c:113:
/usr/include/bits/local_lim.h:38:10: fatal error: linux/limits.h: No such file or directory
 #include <linux/limits.h>

compilation terminated.
make[1]: *** [scripts/Makefile.host:107: scripts/basic/fixdep] Error 1
make: *** [Makefile:448: scripts_basic] Error 2
root@bert:/usr/src/linux#
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
