I run Slackware64-current with the huge-kernel and lilo. Do you if I need to adjust some lilo parameter (just as needed by grub)? I have a "normal VGA console" under /etc/lilo.conf.

I will follow your instructions above, fourtysixandtwo. Since I run huge, no need to rebuild initrd.gz, right?

Another question - the text I will enter under /etc/modprobe.d (the amdgpu.conf and radeon.conf) will overwrite any other rule, if present, under /lib/modprobe.d/ ?

Quote:
# cat /etc/modprobe.d/amdgpu.conf
options amdgpu si_support=1
options amdgpu cik_support=1

# cat /etc/modprobe.d/radeon.conf
options radeon si_support=0
options radeon cik_support=0

#also added the following and rebuilt initrd.gz
echo "MODCONF="1"" >> /etc/mkinitrd.conf

That method won't work with a huge kernel. You'll need to use kernel command line parameters in lilo.conf or recompile the kernel.

Instructions are here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AMD...l_command_line

The problem seems to be Mesa 22.2. I have downgraded Mesa to 22.1.7 and now I can run Firefox (any version released for Current) without problems, even with HW acceleration ON.

The only message I see now when running firefox from terminal is:

Quote:
ATTENTION: default value of option mesa_glthread overriden by environment.
(which does not prevent FF from starting, as before)

I will wait for a more stable Mesa release.

Thank you, guys.

After changing kernel to Generic and the module/drivers from radeon to amdgpu, Mesa 23.1 is working under Slackware64-Current and Firefox can be run with HW acceleration enabled.

Thank you.
