Can't use left-hand mouse with krdc/krfb

I use left-hand mouse buttons on my systems. When I use KDE krdc/krfb, the swapped buttons don't function correctly on the remote/krfb system. The problem seems rooted in krfb not recognizing a local Left-Hand mouse. Could be a red herring and the problem is elsewhere.

Here is what I see when configured as listed:

Local krdc: Right-Hand mouse
Remote krfb: Right-Hand mouse
Mouse buttons work as expected for the local krdc user.

Local krdc: Right-Hand mouse
Remote krfb: Left-Hand mouse
Buttons are reversed, must operate the local krdc mouse as left-hand mouse.

Local krdc: Left-Hand mouse
Remote krfb: Right-Hand mouse
Mouse buttons work as expected for the local krdc user.

Local krdc: Left-Hand mouse
Remote krfb: Left-Hand mouse
Buttons are reversed, must operate the local krdc mouse as right-hand mouse.

Seems to me that how the krdc and krfb systems are configured for the mouse buttons, the button events should transmit seamlessly from the krdc system to the krfb system.

Any ideas?

Is anybody able to confirm the problem?

Thanks.

Edit: Slackware 14.0 and Eric's KDE 4.10.5 packages.

I could use some help here folks.

I installed 14.0 on two new hard drives. I made very few changes to the default installation. I experience the same problem with KDE 4.8.5.

I'm totally baffled what is happening.

Edit: I installed tightvnc. I see the same problem. Using left-hand mouse buttons don't transmit correctly. So the problem does not seem to be KDE.

If it's a physical desktop, then have you tried x11vnc? The -buttonmap options looks like it might be useful to you.

I'm guessing a left handed mouse is treated as an inverted configuration, so the button mapping inverts once on the local and once on the remote, leading to right handed mouse behaviour.

Yes, these all are physical desktops. I tested tightvnc, same results.

I would be grateful of others testing left-hand mouse buttons on both local and remote systems and let me know whether they see the same thing.

I tested with some live cds: slax and fedora. Same results: left-hand mouse buttons don't work in KDE4.

Can anyone confirm this behavior? Just set both machines to use left-hand mouse buttons. Ensure krfb on the remote system is running. Then start krdc to connect.

@Woodsman - You are aware that there is a long standing bug report on this issue, are you not? https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211346
