Fire up Konqueror and let me know if it works for you.

Yes, it works for me. First run took quite long time, but then it works fine.
Only one error messages showed in console:
Quote:

"/usr/bin/konqueror(1447)" Error in thread 140169098757984 : "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply - Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

I got that far with Konqueror. I should have asked you to navigate to /home/yourname.

Martinezio 09-21-2009 07:50 AM

Well, the screen was taken with second run (see on second plan, as I was currently writing my post ;)). With the first one I do some "clicking around" and seems to work great. The error message was after that, I had run konqueror with it's starting page for the first time, and clicked "Home" icon. Konqueror looks for a while like he hang up, then shown those error message in console, and then it started work good. I don't know, how he behaves after reboot. I prefer dolphin, so this is not interesting for me ;)

:o OMG, what the hell is this? CPU scheme? ;)

For me, all works good. Even configuration dialogs are shown proper.
Undefined symbol is combined with kernel - You need to recompile Your kernel. Check, if all necessary modules You've enabled.

mlangdn 09-21-2009 10:13 AM

Well, its not a kernel module problem. I just rebooted to the test partition using the stock kernel - and the problem is still there. I may try to figure this out a bit later. I really can't stand not knowing, but google is a bit lost as well.

Hmm... This error message bring the information about not having some functionality from PyKDE libraries.

See this article:
http://api.kde.org/pykde-4.2-api/sop...eralValue.html

Try to reinstall PyKDE from sources by hand and see the result.
Good luck :)

Martinezio 09-22-2009 03:56 AM

Hmm... Looks, like the KDE 4.3.1 is not so stable, as I think... Plasma is freezing on my desktop, so I don't have access to any system menus :/ And I don't know why. Just stops refreshing and doesn't respond for any clicks and keys. CTRL+ALT+BKSPC doesn't work either, but compiz features are still alive :o I can switch to another app (but cannot run with KDE interface any new app, of course), move window to another position, I have access to my desktop... Weird...

mlangdn 09-22-2009 09:09 AM

I removed all the 4.3.1 kde-related pkgs. I then installed all of them again. That didn't work. I will now officially give up. I still think that KDE-4x is the way to go, and there was much improved functionality in Dolphin. That said, I can't stand something not working properly on my system, even if I don't use it.

Time to blow away the test partition and start over. :)

Martinezio 09-22-2009 09:22 AM

Did You reinstall PyKDE, as I mentioned?

Your standing about non-working things is mine too ;) Currenty, i'm figthing with my webcam (Quickam Messanger - not Messenger, sic). I'm on stage of recompiling GTK, SDL, Pango and glib-2 ;) I don't know whats the problem - driver (my webcam is detected by gspca_zc3xx kernel driver) is working, because I have some data from webcam retrieved, but it looks like micro matrix :o

mlangdn 09-22-2009 09:24 AM

Yep.

Martinezio 09-22-2009 09:30 AM

Hmm... So, You may try to recompile whole KDE system from scratch... Of course, If You are desperate to use KDE 4.3 ;)

mlangdn 09-22-2009 09:38 AM

Not desperate - I just get really ticked when something don't work. Now, recompiling KDE will be a pile of work, with a bunch of modifying slackbuilds going on. But then again, I need the practice. It'll probably take me a week to figure this out.
