Current Plasma - Input Method applet not accessible without fcitx running
Hi,
After updating Plasma to latest version in current I cannot access Input Method under System Settings -> Regional Settings.
The applet displays a cross and an error message: "Cannot connect to fcitx by DBus, is fcitx running?"
Running fcitx command under Konsole makes the settings accessible again but I don't see why I would want "Free Chinese Input Toy of X" if I don't use any Asian language input.
Any way of disabling it, or is it a bug in Plasma?
As i say , i rebuld cryfs ..no lucky , im not try rebuild cryptopp or downdrade , rebuild cryfs not solve the problem here.
Cryfs needs to be upgraded using git version. Tested OK using cryfs git commit 353f287bdea1b8c48d746203f24ae743e0810b4f.
But the build procedure must using git cloned source because cryfs-git is implementing git version checker script and will fail if the source is not from git clone/fetch.

You can try to remove package kcm-fcitx if you don't want to have the "Input Method" entry in "Regional Settings".

Hi,
thanks for the reply, I think the settings are sort of duplicated - I was able to set my preferred keyboard layout under keyboard settings further down in the settings - Hardware -> Input devices -> Keyboard -> Keyboard layouts. It appears that Regional settings -> Input method -> Input method is another attempt to do the same thing?
Anyway, after activating fcitx I am able to use it. Should fctix be activated by default? Does the applet do anything that keyboard settings can't do?
To configure your keyboard layout, just go to Hardware -> Input devices -> Keyboard -> Keyboard layouts
If you're not concerned about entering asian characters, you don't need to look into Regional setting > Input Method. Configuring keyboard layout in Input Method is needed to tell which keyboard layout to use when you switch between input methods (i.e. language).
