2.6.3 doesn't even LOAD anymore

Let's cut to the chase.

I've had 2.6.3 working for weeks until I booted today for the first time. I select slack-2.6.3 in lilo (like always) but surprise surprise! IT DOESN'T even fully load the image! Not even the "OK. kernel image successfully loaded" message.

I fully re-compiled and tried 2.6.3 three times in a row (replacing everytime vmlinuz-2.6.3/system.map, reboot, load *3) and still, the same exact freeze. Loading another kernel works without prob (2.4.22 stock and 2.4.25 load up although I don't use neither).

The last change I've made in my kernel was adding NTFS support (just for read) and I've been able to restart the computer and load succesfully 2.6.3. With that followed my small addition to my /etc/fstab but that's it. Haven't touched to any file within /boot since 2.6.3 compiled/ran for the first time.

Maybe I was tired one day and I used crazy commands (I hope not...) but I'm kinda clueless as this is the first time this has ever happend to me. I've had many kernel panics in the past but those were easy to fix unlike this which leaves the question mark in ur head "WHY WON'T IT LOAD THE DAMN BZIMAGE"

Anybody got a clue? I'd greatly appreciate it and please don't suggest me to try latest snapshots cause that won't solve my problem. I want to stick with 2.6.3 cause it worked very well!

Thanks.

of course I've reran /sbin/lilo when recompiled... still got that error.

Not sure why one day, the kernel which ran fine for weeks (unmodified since that first recompile) would decide to crap on me.

Tomorow, I'l regive a try but htis time, delete the old config. select from scratch, compile, and see how it goes. Hopefully, Tuesday is a better day to use linux than monday!
