Update: exited X11, ran "pipewire-enable.sh" as root, restarted.
Now I see several pipewire processes running:
13851 13700 0 13:27 tty1 00:00:00 /usr/bin/daemon -frB --pidfiles=~/.run --name=pipewire-media-session /usr/bin/pipewire-media-session
13853 13700 0 13:27 tty1 00:00:00 /usr/bin/daemon -frB --pidfiles=~/.run --name=pipewire /usr/bin/pipewire
13854 13851 0 13:27 tty1 00:00:00 pipewire-media-session: /usr/bin/pipewire-media-session
13856 13700 0 13:27 tty1 00:00:00 /usr/bin/daemon -frB --pidfiles=~/.run --name=pipewire-pulse /usr/bin/pipewire-pulse
13860 13853 0 13:27 tty1 00:00:00 pipewire: /usr/bin/pipewire
13861 13856 0 13:27 tty1 00:00:00 pipewire-pulse: /usr/bin/pipewire-pulse
But - nothing works. pavucontrol can't find anything to control, kmix sort of still sees the same devices, but can't do anything with them, etc.
mpg123, my go-to sound tester complains PulseAudio isn't running, xmms fails with a similar error, etc..
Do I need an updated control panel for pipewire?
According to this:

pavucontrol should still work?? It worked when I ran pulseaudio..
Guess I'll try to go back to the old way for now so I have sound..
