Problem with Ubuntu ISO

I'm trying out different flavors of Linux on an old Toshiba Satellite laptop. I used Rufus 4.0 to burn the Linux Mint ISO to a flash drive, and it boots just fine. I was very favorably impressed with it, but wanted to give Ubuntu a try as well. Using the same process, that same laptop simply will not boot to Ubuntu. I get "453 out of range pointer oxaafff020 " error, and it bails out to boot Win 10 from the hard drive. Can anyone suggest another way to do this that will work?

Thanks for the suggestion. That was one of the first articles I read. I had started with Rufus v. 4.0, got the error, and tried 3.13. It claimed it was missing key ingredients, and I should use 4.0. After looking at the Grub site, I saw there were several options for each release. Can you explain the difference between 4.0, the portable version, x86 32-bit, arm64, and arm? Which would be the appropriate choice for me? (Toshiba Satellite c855, 2.3 GH processor, 8GB RAM, running 64 bit Win 10, age is about 11 years old.)

Addendum: Throughout the day I tried all the v. 4.0 variations, plus a different ISO burning software. 2 said they would not run on my machine, and 3 offered me the Ubuntu install menu. All 3 spit me out with the "out of range pointer" error when I chose install or try. Same result with an earlier version of Ubuntu. My patience with the Rufus/Ubuntu axis is not unlimited, and Mint is looking better and better. Any other hints as to why this is happening?

Thanks! That particular ISO tool did not come up in my searches, but I'll check it out for future use. I did the complete install of Mint yesterday after reading some comparisons of the 2 distros. It seemed like a better fit for my particular computing experience. I'll still give Ubuntu a test drive, though.
