Successful Linux Kernel build but unable to send network traffic

I have built Linux kernel with modules for all hardware; I have ip addr assigned for my network cards but I'm unable to ping device, site and browse internet.

I have downloaded latest Linux kernel 4.4 tarball and run make defconfig menuconfig -j2, enabled support for intel e1000e, zd1211rw (usb wireless modem) and android usb network share (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Android...#Version_4.4.6). Modules are static build inside kernel. With wireless modem i'm unable to search for wifi networks.
There is no default Network Scheduler so I chose fair queue. I flused all iptables rules. What I'm missing??

Can you describe what hardware you are running on? CPU? Main board? Architecture? Also, what was running before? Did you have a working system and are just trying to replace the kernel? Can you still reboot into the old kernel and have everything work?

I have Dell Optiplex 755 with core 2 duo running ubuntu 18.04 x86_64. I want to replace kernel to 4.4 from 4.19, but I must compile it myself because kernel-ppa doesn't have latest 4.4 compiled. Now everything working with my hardware when I run system with my compiled kernel but network is unavailable. I missing some kernel config..

For some reason "ufw disable" worked for usb threading but I'm still not able to search for wifi network.

wireless-info showed me that my wireless modem can find my local networks, but for some reason wicd-gtk and wicd-curses are not working with 4.4 kernel (with my configuration).

I think I need to enable CONFIG_CFG80211_WEXT, and use wpa_supplicant and iw instead.

I can close this thread since it's almost solved.
