[SOLVED] seamonkey source package "evaporated" ?

It seems the source package for seamonkey disappeared from some mirrors?
Those I generally rsync with.

As the source (for -current only) isn't on the master site for all mirrors:
mirrors.slackware.com it actually should not be on any mirror; those mirrors that have it are sync'ing without --del (and maybe fetched it earlier themselves, I cannot check if it's ever been there).

PS: you can get the source yourself from http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamo...leases/2.49.4/; it still is the latest release at the moment.

Seamonkey has been at 2.94 at seamonkey's website for over a year, it seems like the project has been abandoned, i think they all left the building and nobody bothered for turn off the lights

If I said it disappeared, it's because it was there up to less than one month ago. I use it to build Slackware From Scratch. I rsynced the Slackware source directory every time I build it, about once a week when I'm not on vacation.

I don't talk about the status of seamonkey, I just talk about the fact that some Slackware mirrors don't have full source.

Your 2.94 probably is a typing error; on the mozilla website I referred to previously, the latest source is 2.49.4 and there exists a 2.49.5 directory too, but no new sources (yet?) under it, in that tree only a 0 bytes "seamonkey-2.49.5.checksums" file can be found.
BTW: THAT file is from august 30th, so very recent.

i like that browser, it has the look & feel of the old netscape/mozilla browsers, i would hate to see it go, but if it has to go...

It's not abandoned. The dev could not keep up with mozilla, So he had to work on the infrastructure first to make the project manageable. And apparently It took some time. Seamonkey 2.49.5 is already finished, and will be available soon. Some distro's already have it, because RC3 of seamonkey 2.49.5 will be the final. If you want to build it yourself: here is the link

Seamonkey 2.49.5 is out now, both for Slackware 14.2 as for -current.
So after about a year there now is a newer (point-)update to seamonkey!
