When connect to web at public location and use other OS and firefox, have no problem [the local server kicks in and after clicking link, am on], but with debian and iceweasel, and although the listing of available connections shows mine included and CONNECTED, can never get it to activate.
Any idea what's going on?
Are other applications able to access the internet on Debian?
Try starting iceweasel from a terminal and connecting. Then post any error or status messages iceweasel throws to the terminal, "code" tags which become available when you click the "Go Advanced" button beneath the compose post window.
Also, what is the output of ip addr at that public location?
As an aside, I thought that Debian and Mozilla had patched up their differences and that Debian was now using Firefox.
Oh yes, I didn't even mention that:
The fact that iceweasel is running on a debian system suggests that said system hasn't been apt-upgraded for a very long time.
