stretch becomes oldstable when DebianOldStable
gets updated it may answer your question. Security updates for jessie didn't stop until June '19 so you'll have a while.

Has anyone installed the nVidia proprietary driver yet, did they follow the same process as per Debian 9? There're no Debian 10 instructions on the below link.

Changing sources.list to testing seems same result as "Bullseye"

Code:
root@debian:~# apt full-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages will be upgraded:
  bzip2 cron dmsetup grub-common grub-pc grub-pc-bin grub2 grub2-common
  libbz2-1.0 libdevmapper1.02.1 libexpat1 libpaper-utils libpaper1
13 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 4618 kB of archives.
After this operation, 0 B of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

Still Xorg, same instructions, same result.

Erh ... well yes. Bullseye *is* the new testing.
Give it some time.

Correct, the initial "testing" is literally a clone of stable at first, it takes a couple weeks for it to start deviating greatly.

I booted up a Visdo (Sid) live usb and it wanted to install 4.19.37 kernel...
https://vsido.org/index.php

So yeah I'm gonna wait a while for new sources for bullseye etc to work itself out.
Buster seems great, in the several months I've been using it no problems at all

bullseye

I've found a hint of info and moved to another topic so as to not distract from Buster!

Hya,

Thanks for excellent jobs to keep Debian running.

I just 'dist-upgrade'ed from buster to bullseye.

For some reason, I got 'Welcome to Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)' as an opening message in boot console log. Does anybody run into this?

cheers

Why will you have to do a clean install? Why can't you upgrade?

I've changed my sources.list from buster to bullseye and there's nothing on my system to suggest it's changed.

Regardless how long migration takes things like /etc/debian_version should be updated?!

I upgraded from Stretch to Buster, and it's solid so far. My machine has been up for a few days now, without a problem. Even my non-free graphics stuff is working as usual.

The first time around, I failed to read the docs for upgrading, and did a 'dist-upgrade' and ended up at the console and had to install GDM and gnome myself. The docs don't tell you to do it that way, but that's what I was used to, so my mistake.

The problem this fella discovered
Debian: Move from buster (old testing) to bullseye (new testing)
appears to be fixed. It seem to fix, at minimum, the welcome console prompt.
