Hi,
I'm new here, so do not hesitate to correct me if I'm doing things the wrong way.
Setup
Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 64-bit
Situation
I tried to install cmst application (
https://packages.debian.org/sid/cmst), and my wifi connection broke right after : i can detect a network and connect to Wifi but i cannot load any website.
I tried to uninstall it (with apt-get --purge remove), yet nothing changed. Whenever I try to connect to any website with Chromium or Firefox ESR, it displays the following :
Code:
This site can’t be reached
www.google.com’s server IP address could not be found.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy, firewall, and DNS configuration
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
Troubleshooting
I found a post on this forum describing the same issue on Fedora :
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...on-4175640073/
He ran some tests to fix the issue, and found out that he could partially fix it (but the problem would still occur whenever he rebooted his computer) :
Code:
root@ninja# ping -c 2 www.google.com
ping: www.google.com: Name or service not known
root@ninja# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

At the end of the topic, the OP said he managed to "fix" it by editing a network configuraton file :
Code:
[root@E7440-DELL home]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network
# Created by anaconda
NETWORKING=yes
dhclient wlp2s0
This is a solution he found under Fedora and I'm a Debian 9 user, so I have no idea what file to edit.
Question
As I am not an experienced Debian user, I do not understand what's broken nor how I could repair it. Is there any way to repair the damage I've done installing cmst ? Or
is there at least a way to "fix" this problem like the Fedora user ?
Thanks in advance !
