Good gravy, why does it matter if or if not thethinker is a newbie or not. thethinker, had a problem and looked for advice on this forum; which, by-the-way, is what this forum is for.

I decided to pay attention when the Slack 13.37 DVD was published and to remember for future reference that it was just like a single sided disk, the label is on the opposite side of the data. That convention was good for releases 14.0 & 14.1. I always checked the boot Welcome message each time to make sure I had it right.

With the 14.2 release I booted the DVD with the "64-Bit" label facing up as usual it but resulted in the 32-bit version instead. I thought it was just a poor memory but it turned out that my copy of the 14.2 release had the label flipped compared previous release labels.

So now I ignore the labeling and just check the Welcome message for the architecture.

It probably wouldn't hurt if the Welcome message emphasized the architecture by stating it is the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Slackware.
