Adding preseed to Debian install

Anybody know what tool Debian uses to make their bootable iso images?

Reason I ask is my nix machine has a Gigabyte motherboard and those are notorious for being finicky about booting from USB. Mine is definitely one of them. The Debian image boots my machine from USB, but I want to take it apart and put it back together to add an initrd preseed file. Using Genisoimage is not working for me.

.

Thanks, yeah I found it in the installer manual, they use xorriso. Did an apt-get on it and works good with my PCs finicky USB boot. I can remaster my debian ISOs now, super handy for automating the debian install.
