[SOLVED] VLC media player not playing video, but playing sound

Hello,

I have a computer running Ubuntu 17.10 with the latest updates(which may be the cause of this issue). I am trying to play a video through vlc media player 3.0. For some reason since I installed the updates last night sound will play on vlc but not video.

I have tried going in and reseting my configuration to the factory defaults to no avail.

I also tried
running:

sudo apt-get remove --purge vlc

sudo apt-get autoremove

sudo apt-get autoclean

sudo apt-get install vlc

I still get the same results, no video but will play sound on videos

-Any input would be greatly appreciated.

When you start VLC from console, what output do you get?

I googled the cmd

output is as follows
