Question How to protect Linux on dual boot from Win 10 upgrades on SSD?

The other week, a Windows 10 upgrade botched both Windows and a Linux distro.

MXLinux 17 has a boot repair app that could be used to repair MBR etc. for such scenarios but i prefer working with Solus Budgie. Could this app. be used there too?

Open to other solutions, but hopefully not too complicated for a non-geek like me.

Use the boot media of the linux distro to boot into Linux.
Then reinstall Grub:

grub install /dev/sdaX

The boot repair tool is available primarliy for Ubuntu/Debian derived distros.
A simple search found this for Solus.

Just type in terminal "grub install /dev/sdaX" sounds simple enough for me!

You can also check the boot sequence in the UEFI Bios of your computer.

Unfortunately you start running a risk without updates.

If one is lucky they can install a single OS on a dedicated drive and place loader on each to help avoid all of this.
