Accidental Folder Deletion

Hello everyone i have a question i hope i can get some help with.

So i somehow ended up deleting the contents of my "Documents" folders and i was quite shocked with what happened but i found them in my Trash and the folder was all there with its contents.

But when i tried to recover the entire folder it said about overwritting the current Document Folder and i said yes to OVerwrite i didnt think much about it and it failed now my folder with all of the contents are gone and i had important stuff in there i need back.

IS there a way to recover my lost files?

The Trash , File Manager is from OpenBox.

Thanks

Perhaps it was moved into the new Documents folder, as Documents/Documents ?
Or next to it as Documents(1) or similar?

First, try find / -name (one of the filenames)...
But yes. You’re probably SOL.

How so ?. You haven't indicated what you did, where you attempted to restore to, or any messages. If you attempted to restore to the same filesystem, you likely made things worse.

Isn't that why you have backups ?.
