No email received

Hi everyone,

As root user I sent an email to a non-root user in my localhost domain.

The mail has not been received by the non-root user.

I checked the /var/spool/mqueue/ directory but there is nothing pending there. I restarted the sendmail daemon anyway.

Still the mail has not been received.

Where can I go from here?

Regards.

Aren't you logging what sendmail does?

A lot of stuff there

But what I see that failed that may be the issue was the step: gethostbyaddr(10.0.2.15) failed: 1

Is that it?

Tell if I have this right please.

Based on what I read, is it a matter of changing the order of the hostname resolution in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file?

Changing it to: hosts: dns file

Is that it?

That didn't resolve the issue.

Any ideas out there?

So I set it back to hosts: files dns

And I tried to send the email again but no success. Message in the log indicates domain of sender address does not exist
