cannot login to funtoo linux. UID 0 does not exist. no users or groups seem to exist.

i can't login to my funtoo linux. an emerge system was probably what i did on it last.
chrooted into it, here is a sample that i get.
Code:
su will
su: Cannot determine your user name.
useradd will -g wheel
useradd: group '100' does not exist
useradd: the GROUP= configuration in /etc/default/useradd will be ignored
useradd: group 'wheel' does not exist

emerge
portage: 'portage' user or group missing.
For the defaults, line 1 goes into passwd, and 2 into group.
         portage:x:250:250:portage:/var/tmp/portage:/bin/false
         portage::250:portage
*** WARNING *** For security reasons, only system administrators should be
*** WARNING *** allowed in the portage group. Untrusted users or processes
*** WARNING *** can potentially exploit the portage group for attacks such as
*** WARNING *** local privilege escalation.
my /etc/group and /etc/passwd files look normal, and have permissions 644.
i just compiled pam and reinstalled, and things are the same.

more info. just did this.
Code:
groups
0 1 2 3 4 6 10 11 20 26 27
i think that is really messed up.

somehow, there were about 20 library files missing from /lib64. i copied what was different from a backup of that directory, and things were back to normal. i have NO idea how that happened.
