Desktop Icons are out of reach in KDE Plasma desktop environment.

When I was playing a game I had set it to Fullscreen Windowed mode for a bit, but when I set it back my desktop refreshed and now my icons are now out of reach and sorting them prevents them from showing up at all. They are visible if I view the desktop through Dolphin so they are still there, but this is mildy annoying as the usual tactics I've used in the past to fix this isn't working. Said tactics being messing with my resolution and what not. A restart failed to fix this as well. I was hoping I could get a bit of help with this small problem.

I accidentally went to that problem too. The items are still in place, but hidden.

One way to fix is to click and drag the mouse on the desktop to the edges and try to push the cursor "away from the screen", like drawing a square or rectangle. When the desktop finally "scrolls", your items should show up.

Unfortunately it's not scrolling or highlighting anything. KDE was something I switched to when I got tired of using Thunar and putting up with it's data bottlenecking. So I went back to Xfce and sure enough everything is there. Switching back, shows nothing still except as I said before it is visible through Dolphin.

I see. Thanks for the reply. Maybe the only way now is to put them to another folder and then move it back to the desktop again. I used xfce before and current is KDE. The xfce in my memory will adjust things nicely even if the screen resolution changes in the future. So I think at the end go with whatever helps the most and what you are more comfortable at.

Creating a new folder doesn't show up at all either. Scooping it into the folder is not an option. If you don't know how else to help then I will have to wait til someone can, hopefully before it's too late to help. I'd rather fix this within the month if possible....

Edit: I attempted to see if I could purge KDE and this is what it gave me and I don't know if this is related to the problem or if I need to be using KDE to make this work. Note that I changed pc and user name for anonymity:

Code:
user@pc:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get remove -- purge kde*

Straight from your previous post.

Ok then just go wait. People give their spare time here and you don't even bother to ask me for more clarity. Consider your rude attitude. You do not deserve help anyways.

By the way, using anything else requires at least a minimum attention of details and dedication in searching answer for yourself.

If you want a new desktop, you could have installed a new one first and then choose to activate it. It is just that simple. Because now after you installed a new one you will be prompt to choose one desktop to start on your next Linux reboot. You don't even need to purge your old one. How do I know, because I did that myself. Exactly how and what problem you face however, due to every Linux being a little different. I cannot fully guarantee you not to run into all kinds of minor problem. If this does not feel like you, use windows instead.

And let alone thanking me for replying you.

Goodbye. And let's have this thread as an example for others what *not* to do in places where other people do not even get paid for their post.

I wasn't trying to be rude, you said yourself that you couldn't help me anymore. I tend to just take things literal. If you didn't mean to be literal you shouldn't have said it that way. I'm just saying I'm open to other people helping me if you're reached your skill and knowledge limit. That's all. I don't understand this hostility, I expect this kind of additude from someone who spends too much time on Twitter, not a place like this. Please be respectful to people in this community or there won't be one if you keep trying to chase people off.

Moving on: As I said, I open the floor to anyone else who can offer me help.

Because you insisted on your way I can only advice you to go whatever you feel comfortable with. With you having no appreciation at all, there really isn't anything I can do.

You're also using a brand new account which you are using to cause drama. You really need to just stop derailing the topic before you get removed.

This issue is unresolved but I need to put the stops in before this new user has derailed my issue and it probably won't get resolved now. I'm going elsewhere to find my problem for now til this user is dealt with. I'm sorry to the rest of the community for this.

According to https://askubuntu.com/questions/1387...-desktop-icons the icon locations are stored in ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc, so perhaps you could edit that file to move them somewhere reasonable.
