How can I change the font and font size via a command?

On my UOS, the default font and font size are “Noto Sans” and “14” respectively.
I can change them by using the built-in GUI. However, I want to change them by running a command. I have run the following command but to no avail.

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface font-name "Noto Sans CJK TC 18"

What command should be run instead?
Both “Noto Sans CJK TC” and “18” are available options shown in the said GUI.

Unified Operating System is intended to replace what we are accustomed to. I bet you can find someone who knows that OS better than we do.

If you are using Gnome (you do not say so but try to use gnome-tools), try to understand how fontconfig works ( on your system ).

The “command” that you are looking for is altering the content of a configuration file. Find out, which file that is ( on your system ).

Else give us some common information which can help us recognize your system better. Deepin may be a distribution which has its own sub-forum on LQ:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ux-deepin-101/

As Unified Operating System is based on Deepin, I bet that the folks in that forum have an opinion to share, maybe more.

I wrote a shell script that will find out what files have been modified. I found that the following files will be modified if I use the built-in GUI to change the font and font size.

~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/99-deepin.conf
~/.config/deepin/qt-theme.ini
~/.config/dconf/user

I did the following things as a test:
(1) I backed up the above three files after changing the font and font size via the built-in GUI.
(2) I undid the changes via the built-in GUI. The font and font size were restored to the default.
(3) I copied the backup copies into the original containing folders.
(4) I re-logged into UOS, and the font and font size were changed according to the backup copies.
(5) I restarted UOS, and the font and font size were restored to the default.

I can share the said shell script with you if you are interested in it.

Thank you for the proposition, personally I have no need for that, but your post might have given others a clue.

Cheerio.
