Is it a laptop? Most laptops and even some desktop keyboards have a
Fn key. On some models you must press
Fn+F2 to get the normal function of the
F2 key. So try
Fn+Ctrl+Alt+F2. Yes, it gets a bit unwieldy
.
BTW, when I said
Alt+F2 above I didn't mean changing to a virtual console.
Alt+F2 inside GNOME/KDE/XFCE et al. invokes "Launch an application" prompt, akin to
Win+R in Windows.
