Why do low end android phones don't get NFC capabilities?

Hi

I purchased many android phones in the pass between $100 to $200 and there is no NFC chip on them. I'm not rich to give Apple $1000 ~ $1500 for a phone.

Is NFC an expensive option to put on a phone? Thanks

There are phones under 1000 dollars with NFC.

My cell phone cost about 300 USD and it has NFC.

I almost never use it, but it's there.

It's one of the features that manufacturers can easily cut (since the first generations required an add-on chip to support) in order to differentiate their "flagship" phone from those of lower cost, since performance for most things really isn't terribly different in many ways now.

You can do things like tap to pay and connect with devices by touching them together, that kind of thing.

IMO, the biggest thing is that phones without NFC have one less security vulnerability to have to worry about.

I agree, it is very unnecessary for the most part. I can pair my headphones by tapping together or just choose it from the list on the screen. Not really adding a whole world of convenience. I tend to have it switched off because I am never sure where the next sensor is!
