Create bootable usb image to format disk

I have several old systems that need to be recycled and I don't have passwords. I need to crate a bootable usb stick so I can reformat the drives before they are recycled. Any suggestions?

Just in case as a FYI formatting i.e using the mkfs command does not erase any data. You need to run a utility that actually erases the entire disk like dban or if your disks are capable, ATA secure erase.

Another vote for DBAN (https://dban.org/).
