+1, like i've said, dunno who is doing what over here or over there, very clearly i've been treated here in one way, at the other place altogether differently,

i have been accused here (by a poster) and over there (with posts that still stand) of using sockpuppets, which is pure bs, folks here (that run the show) of course made no such accusation

they have dealt with the circumstances that have come here like the pros that they are, fair and impartial, a class act and a credit to linux

a fine example of ~ best not to mess with folks who know what they are doing vs the lunacy at the other place

folks here have dealt with everything that has come here in a way that i have no issues with whatsoever,

i've no doubt, like myself, plenty of others moved on from pup, manly due to the forums and how they are run, laying low waiting to see when circumstances might change down the road, to a least have an opportunity to move in another direction

there's no way i was going to contribute to a distro, in witch the main supporting forum, for all the good it was doing, at the same time didn't believe in dealing with garbage and in fact encouraged it

and then tries to promote or peddle a theme of ~ it's all good, that you mostly only see in the forums themselves, despite clear evidence to the contrary all over the net, staring them in the face

it is a forum, that by it's very nature, breeds a legion of enemies,

let's not forget the more recent studio project, of witch i have or had nothing to do with, along with folks who even when i started (and we're talking 5 years now), were clearly trying to communicate issues at the time, to others, and affecting change

gotta give 'em credit, they have been one tuff nut to crack, and given how they've conducted and shown themselves to be, i doubt will just put the unfolding saga to rest, quietly

I just got back from visiting and registering at your forum.
I do have a comment though.
I do not know if I incorrectly stated my time zone, but even before I registered, the current time was a long way from that which would be my or your time zone.
I am in US Pacific and am unable to edit my time zone in my profile on your site.
But I thought I would bring this to your attention here, since I can not yet post on your forum.

This rule in your fora is ridiculous, laughable and totally unprofessional.

This is also ridiculous. Most of the newbies do NOT know the power of Google and techniques of searching. A newbie should be asked and encouraged to show what steps he has taken to solve his issues, if you really want him to help himself.

Thank you for bring this to my attention. I’ll take a look at default time zone and see what might be up with that.

I activated your membership so you should be able to login now and set correct time zone in Edit Options of User CP.

According to World Time Zone Map your time zone would be GMT-8 (a.k.a. UTC-8), or minus an hour depending on how you set Daylight Saving Time Correction.

Thank you for your opinion.

Apparently my rules are not so onerous or misguided as to put people off from joining because I have 3 new members this morning.

I again just got back from puppylinuxforum.org and the current time showed as 4:30am and my time on my PC showed 11:30am.
Also, there seems to be no option in the logged in user profile to correct the time zone if it is set incorrectly when a user registers.
I suppose I could have joined the "Forum Suggestions" to post this, but figured it was better stated here.

See attached file. If you still have problems let me know and I will set your time zone.

But that also means if someone has a problem that already was solved on the Murga-forum you are not allowed to link to that solution. That makes more work for the helpful people, because they have to copy that posts, and I believe that sometimes the people simply don't have the time or have other reasons not to do that. That decreases the worth of the new forum, in my eyes significantly.

could be you're right and hard to say how things might shake out starting out, personally, i'm not worried about details right now,

easy enuff to drop out at any time if having a huge issue about anything regarding the new forum

looks mostly wide open right now to me as far as a defined direction

there was some discussion about it before that didn't go anywhere other than continuing developing the ubuntu connection that was started

also easy for the win crowd came up

I was never under any illusion that regulars here would ever be interested in my forum, probably too cerebral for you anyway. All those onerous, hard to understand rules, meh.

I don’t suppose it’s dawned on anybody here (other than jonyo) but Puppy Linux Forum is intended to replace the cesspool. And I know you know what I'm talking about.

It is similar to a "rule" we have here - we don't allow members to bad mouth other forums simply as a point of politeness/netiquette, and that we wouldn't like it if they did it to us! If you had allowed Murga discussion/bashing then that is all that the fledgling forum would be known for, rather than providing support for users of Puppy.

Glad to hear it's all up and running, and as we have often said here on LQ: just because you're an LQer it doesn't stop you joining other forums and vice versa.
