A Terminal based web page inspector

For anyone who is interested, I have developed a terminal based web page inspector that prints to terminal and logfile all web page requests in sequential order. It also has a small web browser window to allow links or menus to be opened.

It prints request Method, resource Type, and request Url, colorized for Resource Type.

The usage of it would be in place of the web inspector in a web browser. I think it delivers web page info in a easier to find/understand format. It also logs to a plain text file. Which means the info is easily searchable and archive-able.

Here are a few screen grabs of it in action.

It uses qt5 and webengine, in c++. There isn't anything exotic in it. I'll post source and build info if anyone is interested.

And if you don't understand what this could be used for, then this isn't for you, thanks for looking.

Hi teckk!

Thanks once more for your desire to share the product of your work with others! As a long time Linux user and participant here at LQ, and one with obvious good programming skills, you have much to offer!

As has been mentioned previously, however, the Programming forum is a place for seeking help with specific programming questions and sharing knowledge, but not so much for posting whole code, nor for promoting your latest application, useful though it may be. This post is of the latter kind and is just not appropriate for the Programming forum.

This response is not intended as a complaint really, but more as a request that you find more appropriate ways to share your knowledge, and your code, with others. The Programming forum is a place to ask questions and find answers and is governed by the LQ Rules and in the spirit of the LQ FAQ, so I suggest you review those for guidance.

As I have suggested to others in the past, consider making use of your LQ Blog space as a resource for posting, organizing and discussing your applications. There you are not restricted by the constraints which must apply in the forums and you may keep all your shared work in one easily indexed place - a much under-utilized resource in my opinion!

For sharing your knowledge in the forums try to keep to a question and answer format focused on specific problems and their solutions. Doing so makes the shared knowledge more easily accessible to others, both now and in the future. Answer questions of others, or pose some specific problem and offer a specific solution, appropriate to each forum (i.e Programming, Software, Networking, etc.).

Your participation and desire to share are always appreciated! Let's try to find the most appropriate and useful ways to promote that! Thanks!

This looks interesting. Can you post some of the screen shots here so that they are all in one place? Maybe a link to the source, too.

Just make sure you drop a post to let people know you have added these sort of things to your blog. I happen to like these contributions.
