To call myself a "newbie" would be a step up. After visiting many websites and reading many articles on switching from windows to linux I was left with the impression that the average person (hope I am at least average) could get started in linux. Did not expect this to be easy, but I am totally lost. I am so lost that if someone does answer this post, I do not know how to locate the response. Before writing this I have spent over an hour going from link to link on this site looking for a tutorial on how to use this site. On this sites tutorial link there is nothing on how to use this site. Have used the link on this page which states "Click Here to Find Similar Threads" and again can not find a page explaining how to use this site. Looking under this box is another box for tags, if I can not enter an acceptable tag I most likely will not be able to send this message. Would really like to get away from windows. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hope I will be able to find any responses.
Hello, On the right side under the section "Main Menu" is a link "Linux Tutorials". When one clicks that you can find another link for "Linuxquestions.org" which gets this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/linux...xQuestions_org. This would be a good starting point I think.
I think this thread would be more appropriate in LinuxQuestions.org >Forums >LinuxQuestions.org >LQ Suggestions & Feedback (link).
When you will be more LQ-savvy, I suggest you hit the button "Report" on your first post of this thread and ask in the form that you would like to move the whole thread in "LQ Suggestions & Feedback" subforum
In that link list there's also the link to what shows in my signature about How to use the LinuxQuestions.org site.
I've seen a number of posts by you, Charles3456, over the last month, but admittedly none where you re-replied to a thread. So I can only hope you see this and get the guidance you're seeking.
My other thought is that perhaps when you set up your account, you didn't use an email you monitor much, or LQ emails are going to spam and you're not seeing them. I believe the defaults are that you will receive emails when threads you've responded too or started, get new posts, and also a default is that you'll be subscribed when you post.
If you happened to alter your LQ profile when you started, then this may be one reason why you don't seem to get notified about updates to threads you've posted in.
Also thanks, l0f4r0, I do agree that it belongs in the S&F forum and will be moving it. Note that anyone can report a thread for moving.
Indeed! I don't know why I thought only the OP could do that... Maybe because there is written on the form "[...] or to request that *your* thread be moved to another forum"
