How to deal with text speak in a question (or answer)?

FWIW (see what I did there?), I totally disagree with the usage of google translate.
It tends to confuse things even more.
There's always a degree of interpretation by the reader, even in describing technical problems, and a tool like google tranlate breaks that.
It creates a false sense of being understood, and people using it don't consider to e.g. not use certain idioms of their own language because they don't translate well.
Broken English is always preferable.

Given that the WWW is awash with "OMGLOL", etc.

Personally I think a few acronyms or initialisms aren't so problematic, but as others have pointed out the "hi bro plz can u help cuz i have..." manner of posting should warrant some kind of corrective response.

I agree, it is irritating I suspect their spoken words are just as confusing and infuriating.

I guess we have all turned into "that old fuddy-duddy" we all recall from our childhood
