Had gotten a new cana kit for rasp pi 3b+, used stock rasp. os and class 10 micro sd. It lags... But then... reread a how to install firefox quantum -- use a 64bit os.

I finally found an image that was able to resize partitions for me instead of using gparted or dd.

tried arch with exton linux... but for now settled on gentoo. Also using a patriot usb card instead of usb and it is very responsive. (over spending? Patriot 32GB Supersonic Rage Series USB 3.0 Flash Drive With Up To 180MB/sec- PEF32GSRUSB) Even on a toshiba 19 inch tv. part of the lag had to do with chromium browser refresh rate. But using firefox developer edition called arora and it is extremely responsive and great to use. I may use a newer firefox to have it go faster.

The hardware is stock with no heatsink, fans, or overclocking... Took me weeks of being annoyed... but finally got it working fast.

Sync with emerge was slow/ didn't work, so you may be able to update the image in a virtual machine. The image uses arch64 and porthole as a package manager.

I also added paid for broadcom decoder licences, but you may not need them, also edited the config.txt (not config file) to use VC4. Remember to backup your data. This tv also worked with 1024x768x75 on raspian so may try that instead of 1360x720 some time.

Note if you use etcher to flash to a usb, you can save time by not unzipping zipped or xzed img files, and some times you may not need to verify the image file.

Update.update 2: able to browse the web on many sites, with less stability issues under chromium on raspbian 64 with an image blocker, it works great on youtube, because it leaves image place holders in place. This and using old hardware techniques from dial-up days may help. such as changing MTU speed, getting faster priority for input output. Rebooting/updating modem firmware/config... all for now... for my needs it meets the requirements for a basic workstation :-)

more notes t's very stable now because of no images and can do 480p and 720p on youtube: Extension tested had a name similiar to 'image blocker 9000 Ex 1.0' also I think h264ify was nice, had also disabled history and tried to disable swap file to not write to disk as much.

This 'bug?'/performance issue may occur on many platforms do to low memory.
