Another new newbie

Hello all. I'm a newbie here at the forums and pretty much a newbie when it comes to linux os's. Been trying all the ubuntu flavors trying to get a wireless printer working but so far nothing seems to work, but that a question for another forum post.

I'm a retired marine pipefitter and a retired IT senior systems administrator (99% windows).
I'll bet you're wondering how I went from pipefitter of 22 years to an IT guy of 25 years. That's a long story in itself.

I'm retired now, on disability, have a genealogy project I'm constantly working on, would like to use linux on my old Samsung rc512 laptop (still runs great) so I can move around the house when I need to....

rambling now. glad to be here and heading to another forum to post about my wireless printer dilemma.

Thanks for having me and cheers,
JP
