xmms won't play MP3s?

Dunno why but it won't let me load MP3s for playing - do I need a plugin or something?

Version is 1.2.7

Go here... http://havardk.xmms.org/dist/xmms-1.2.7-rh8-rh9-rpm

download xmms-mpg123-1.2.7-21.i386.rpm...

Install it and xmms will play mp3's

Can I trust this site? Why isn't the rpm available at www.xmms.org?

Can't I build with mpeg support from the standard source tarball?
