when 'exit' the system stop work

Recently i had my gtk updated to 2.17 that to apply a software ,my os is
centos 5 final .After the upgrading ,i found sometime whenever you use command 'exit' or click the exit icon on the window then the system will stop all the work the only you can do is move the cursor.Just like flash frost .And if you want to go on the only way is to reboot which maybe the
case come again.
lq friends have you system occured such a problem and how did you solved .Tell me !

It seems that all button event are not effected except the power button (last for 3s),I guess maybe the xclient lost the contact with the xserver ,but the upgrade gtk would lead the problem,i don't known.
