Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Shockwave,

Hard to believe people want shockwave. That is the absolute nadir of web page design. Waiting for mozilla to make a "block flash from this server" option ...

I am migrating from XP this week. First time here.

I would like to see Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator, like so many others.

More importantly, given that I am an architecture student and work for a a design firm, I cannot live without Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Autodesk Viz and Autodesk Revit). Neither can most people in architecture and related professions. For this reason, I'll have to keep XP on my desktop for a long time still, since it seems that there are very few others around who need these programs ported to Linux.

My only real reason to still boot to Windows: Photoshop. The Gimp is a terrific piece of software considering it's free, but it is not a complete Photoshop replacement. I would pay the usual exorbitiant price for a copy of PS if it ran natively in Linux. I have seen screenshots of people using PS7 in Linux under CodeWeavers Crossover Office, and am considering purchasing it, but a version specifically for Linux would definitely spark my interest :)

I also LOVE MusicMatch Jukebox in Windows. I have thousands of mp3's on my hard drive, and MMJB's library beats all hands down. I realize the mmjb crew tried a Linux version, but aborted it because not enough interest. XMMS is ok, but it lacks the full feature goodies of mmjb. Trying to cue up a good playlist with XMMS when you have 10gb's of mp3's is a real pain in the ass. I might even try running it under Wine (which I really don't care for) just so I can have it in my day to day OS.

I'd like to see Orcad (I'm using Orcad Lite under windoze). Running it under wine is not stable enough.

wow, how nice it would be to be running linux on your machine this morning. still i cannot complain about what 9.1 has done for my little dell laptop this weekend. holy toledo, i thought 9.0 was nice, holy krist, it doesn't compare with 9.1, if 9.2 is a leap over 9.0 the same way i can only imagine.

however, i can wait as i know 9.2 will need at least six months b 4 it stablizes....

Just improve the compatibility and supportibility of Wine in order to support all program that run under Windows and MAC. Linux will be multiOS compatibled and free!

What programs in Linux?
 

Timeslips would be nice...as well as Quicken and the latest WordPerfect suite. (I think Corel is actually working on that one though.) TurboTax would also be very nice too! Then again, since I'm greener than green when it comes to Linux, it wouldn't surprise me if they already do.

Yes, I too would like someone to ask Bill Gates to do a MSN for Linux. ;)

Photoshop & CorelDraw! all around best for creativity. Open Office Draw isn't bad, but needs a few of the more polished features of CorelDraw. Scribus is nice, but a bit "clunky". After a bit more refinement, should give QuarkXpress some serious competition!

Graphics are fun....it's some of the people that you deal with that ruin your day!

not that the manufacturer would bother, but Microsoft Excel.

almost all features of office are available in office systems for linux, but i still think excel still has far more features that simply aren't available anywhere else.
