ive run visual boy advance with recent alsa drivers, i think i ran the sound through esd but i cant remember, im away from my machine at the moment, i'll have a look tomorrow and see
soundcards can only play a few sounds at once, so you cant have mpg123 and mplayer running at the same time with sound, the way round this is to use a software mixer, esd(enlightened sound daemon) is one of these, the other popular one is arts(dunno what it stands for) what they do is take the sound from all your programs, mix them together then send them to the soundcard. so visual boy advance talks to esd and esd talks to alsa which in turn talks to the soundcard.
Bumpage, because I can't even seem to get VBA to compile in SuSE 9.0. Here's the error message that I'm getting:
Quote:
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/Maronflower/Documents/Visual Boy Advance/VisualBoyAdvance-1.6a/src/i386'
no -f elf -o 2xSaImmx.o 2xSaImmx.asm
make[2]:
no: Command not found
It does seem to not recognise a command called "no". Is there a way to get SuSE to recognise it? Is there a package I need to install? Lots of thanks in advance.
I can't even run the compiled version of VBA that's available on their site, it comes as a strange binary file SuSE won't recognise.
I'm a total newbie to Linux, so please bear with me. :/
I get the same problem trying to compile the emu, for some research I made you need to have:
1.- gettext installed
or
2.- use ./configure --disable-nls
I have gettext installed and still didnt compile and --disable-nls didnt work for me... but it seems it worked for other people so maybe you want to check that out.
