Question Use Qemu to boot VMWare 'image' ?

Hello I have used Qemu to create virtual disks that work in VMWare, and they did indeed work.

Now though I would like to use the VMWare images that I have created and run them in the Free Qemu. Is this possible, and if so, how would I do this? Not all are created on Qemu-created disks; at least one comes from the VMWare Converter which converts hardware-installs to a VMWare file.

Thank you!

Why not just use the free VMware applications??? Both VMware Server and VMware Player are free for download:

Seamless Desktop, that's why!

Aah, because the VMWare products are not Free as in FLOSS, nor do they support Seamless Desktop, or not that I know of at any rate [Update: yes it seems that Seamless Virtualisation can run with VMWare]... nor does VMWare's license allow for redistribution like Qemu and the GPL.

Granted, the concept of Seamless Desktop [edit: Seamelss Virtualisation] throws out the concern for an all-Free desktop by definition, but its a lot better than loading the full-blown Windows.

And that is why

Does anyone know the answer to the original post: can Qemu run VMWare images,, including those that span multiple .vmdk files for their virtual harddisk?
